The Chiefs then defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, with Mahomes claiming the Super Bowl MVP award.

Mahomes continued to excel in the following seasons, leading the Chiefs to the AFC Championship Game in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, he earned his second NFL MVP award after passing for 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also set a new NFL record for most passing yards in a single game, throwing for 610 yards in a Week 17 win over the Denver Broncos.
